Researchers at Queen Mary University of London have developed a new toothpaste BioMinF that aims to replace lost minerals of calcium and phosphate and add fluoride to help repair and harden teeth over a cycle of sleep. Unlike traditional toothpastes that contain soluble fluoride that rinses away and wears off after only a few hours, BioMinF works within an 8-12 hour timetable releasing ions that combine with saliva to strengthen teeth and act with fluoride to reduce sensitivity by sealing off the nerve stimuli.
Not yet on shelves of your local pharmacy, BioMinF is available wholesale from dental practices and distributors now via www.biomin.co.uk.
Dental decay and tooth sensitivity are both very common and good oral hygiene is recommended to include brushing, flossing and rinsing two to three times a day. Soft bristled toothbrushes are often more gentle on your teeth and gums and gels are potentially less abrasive than pastes. Discuss home care challenges with your dentist and hygienist to secure a regimen to meet your needs.
